Health & Safety Representative Initial Occupational Health & Safety Training Course
Under Section 67 of the Victorian Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, elected Health & Safety Representatives are entitled to attend a Health & Safety Representative Initial Occupational Health & Safety Training Course. The course must be chosen by the Health & Safety Representative in consultation with their employer.

The Health & Safety Representative Initial Occupational Health & Safety Training Course has been approved by WorkSafe and is delivered by qualified trainers with practical, current workplace experience. The course is delivered over 5 days and provides Health & Safety Representatives with the basic skills and information required to represent their designated work group in matters relating to occupational health & safety
The learning objectives of the Health & Safety Representative Initial Occupational Health & Safety Training Course are:
- Interpreting the occupational health and safety legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR
- Identifying key parties and their legislative obligations and duties
- Establishing representation in the workplace
- Participating in consultation and issue resolution
- Represent designated work group members in any OHS risk management process undertaken by the appropriate duty holders
- Issuing a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) and directing cessation of work
